Elizabeth H. Shlala is a historian of the Middle East and North Africa. She is the Assistant Dean and Associate Professor of the Practice in the University Core Curriculum at Boston College. She holds appointments with the History Department and the Islamic Civilization and Societies Program. Prof. Shlala has a Formative Education Grant from the Provost’s Office to develop the Justice and the Common Good Living and Learning Community. She teaches the Enduring Question course, Geographies of Imperialism: History of Colonization in the fall and Gender, Sex, and Power in the Ottoman and British Empires in the spring, and The Italian Mediterranean: Una Faccia, Una Razza in Venice, Italy in the summer.
